About
Welcome to Wei Fang Chinese Restaurant, where culinary excellence meets warm hospitality in the heart of Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Nestled within the Novotel Taipei, Wei Fang blends traditional Chinese flavors with a modern dining experience, appealing to both local diners and international guests.
Upon stepping inside, the ambiance is inviting, albeit with a slight chill that detracts from the overall experience. The bright, clean space is complemented by the friendly demeanor of the staff, who are always ready to assist with a smile and ensure a seamless dining journey. The offering of an English menu further underscores their commitment to accommodating a diverse clientele.
The real star of this gastronomic affair, however, is the food. Each dish tells a story of culinary mastery and fresh ingredients. The fried rice is a must-try, delivering a delightful crunch and well-balanced flavors that dance on the palate. Accompanying the rice are dumplings that are beautifully crafted—each one a delicate pillow filled with savory goodness. Diners rave about the dim sum, with options like the siu mai and egg custard buns receiving high praise for their quality and taste. The Pineapple BBQ pork buns are an explosion of flavor, making them an essential order on any visit.
While some reviewers noted that the food could lean towards the salty side, the freshness of the ingredients shines through. The unique and vibrant flavors are complemented by a variety of tea options, enhancing the dining experience. The restaurant also offers intriguing appetizers, such as spicy pig ears, setting the stage for a memorable meal.
Despite minor hiccups such as occasional slow service and temperature issues, the overall experience at Wei Fang is one of high quality and satisfaction. As a food reviewer, I can confidently say that Wei Fang is a hidden gem that deserves recognition. A few adjustments here and there could elevate it from great to exceptional, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone seeking an authentic Chinese dining experience.
To summarize, Wei Fang Chinese Restaurant is a culinary delight that combines flavorful dishes, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re in the mood for comfort food or an adventurous meal, Wei Fang promises to tantalize your taste buds and leave you coming back for more.
“ Excellent food. Staff very kind, accommodating and helpful. Quick service. Great price. Very high quality dimsum. Siu mai with mustard very good. Egg custard buns excellent. Pineapple BBQ pork buns delicious. Many tea options. Large dining space. Worth going to. Small party to giant table. ”
“ This restaurant, also known as Wei Fang, is inside the Novotel hotel. The food was great, but the service was rather slow. The employees were kind but it just took a very long time for some dishes to be prepared. Upon being seated, a complimentary appetizer of spicy pig ears was provided. I ordered tea which came out in a pot with a candle underneath to keep it warm. That was neat. For entrees I had the cold chicken soaked in wine, crab oil fried rice, mapo tofu, braised duck, and boiled cabbage. I especially enjoyed the braised duck, which was unlike anything I have ever had before. The only dish I did not enjoy was the mapo tofu. For dessert I had almond pudding and dates stuffed with glutinous rice. The dates were unique and fun to eat because they were so chewy. ”
“ My dining adventure at Wei Fang in the Novotel Taipei was a journey of flavors that tantalized my taste buds. The service was impeccable, with servers who exemplified kindness and attentiveness, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience throughout the meal. The culinary offerings, particularly the fried rice and dumplings, were nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was a canvas of well-balanced spices and textures, with the dumplings delicately wrapped and brimming with succulent fillings. Accompanied by a fragrant cup of tea, the meal was both comforting and invigorating. However, there was a slight hiccup in the atmosphere. The air conditioning was set a tad too low for my comfort, adding an unnecessary chill to the otherwise warm ambiance. This small detail was enough to make the environment a bit less welcoming, which I believe is an easy fix for an otherwise stellar establishment. In conclusion, Wei Fang scores a full five stars for its food and service, but the overzealous air conditioning brings the atmosphere down to three stars. Overall, it stands as a four-star experience in my book. The restaurant truly is a gem in Taipei for its culinary delights and I am confident that with a minor adjustment to the temperature, the ambiance would match the high standards of its dishes and service. ”
“ (With English menu and service) The food is not bad, but in general I think it’s a bit salty. I can taste the food is very fresh, but can’t taste the real sweet taste of the food because the way they cook it. However, the restaurant is very nice and clean with atmosphere. Staffs are very friendly and provide very good service. ”
